Happy Tree Friends website (Giggles Episode Guide): Cuddles is always trying to lure scared Flaky into some sort of trouble! In this episode, Cuddles wants Flaky to join him in the local swim hole... little does he know that what you don't see beneath the water can hurt you! Plot

Cuddles jumps into the lake. He tells Flaky to come in, but she does not and tries to warn him about the no swimming sign. Cuddles keeps telling her to come in, but is suddenly attacked by piranhas and bounced around like a beach ball by two seals. Flaky tries to get him by using a stick, however she is not close enough to reach him. He is then thrown onto land and is nearly eaten by a crocodile, but he manages to get out of it. Flaky gets something to save Cuddles, but as he finally manages to get out of the water, he is crushed by a whale. A rope with a life preserver is thrown to where Cuddles’ remains are as Flaky laughs nervously.

Altered and deleted scenes

There are differences between the episode's storyboard and the final product. In general, the final product is mirrored from the storyboard version.

  • Cuddles jumping into the lake is not part of the storyboard.
  • Scene 10, 16, 25: Originally, the shot of the sign would comically escalate by zooming out to show another sign next to it to reflect the danger Cuddles was in. When the piranhas attacked him, a piranha sign would be shown to the right of the "no swimming" sign. When a crocodile was next to attack, a crocodile sign would be shown to the right of the piranha sign. Lastly, after the whale crushed Cuddles, a whale sign would be shown to the right of the piranha sign to complete the line. This was scrapped altogether, with two scenes being filled in with Cuddles being tossed around by the two seals and Cuddles struggling between the crocodile's jaws instead.
  • Scene 17-19: Flaky would be shocked and try to help Cuddles using a stick after the latter got bitten by the crocodile instead of when he is being played by the seals.
  • Scene 29: The iris would close in on Flaky's hands holding the rope instead of on her face.
  • As discussed in the "Tree Talk Activation" documentary on the Happy Tree Friends: Volume 1: First Blood DVD, there was going to be a scene where Cuddles would wrestle against an octopus. He would try to cut its tentacles off with a knife. This was replaced with the scene of Cuddles being tossed around by the two seals.

Unrendered graphics

There are graphics placed outside the rendering area in the episode's SWF file.

  • The "Hang in there, kids!" loading screen has the intro graphics placed outside the rendering area to allow them to be loaded before the show's intro begins proper. Among the images are inanimate graphics of Lumpy's and Russell's pop-ups.
  • A copy of the lake graphic is preemptively loaded during the scene where the life preserver begins to be dragged away so it can be displayed as the background on the final scene showing Flaky.
